Hi, my name is Ashleigh Coles Walker. I received my autism diagnosis as an adult, but have felt like a member of the neurodivergent community for much of my life. I am a qualified teacher and I have devoted my career to developing my understanding of autism. I have worked as an autism specialist teacher for 18 years, initially in autism-specific classrooms and, latterly, for a local authority autism outreach team delivering support and training to mainstream secondary schools and students.

 

I believe passionately in the difference not deficit approach to understanding autism and work hard to enable those I work with to feel proud of their autistic identities. I recognise that, without the contributions of people with autistic thinking, life would be very much less interesting and we would be living without many advancements in science, technology and the arts.

I deliver truly bespoke and evidence-based mentoring and support for my clients. I work creatively and collaboratively to develop programmes and resources to help my clients to overcome barriers to progress, make the most of their skills and enable them to live happier and more fulfilled lives.
